Supplement Concepts

 

Today is April 24, 2004 & I have to replace all the hyperlinks on my Index page & so I am looking at some of these pages I wrote only 4 1/2 months ago. Boy oh boy have time’s changed. Please read the concepts here…they still apply. My belief system now is that we do more harm than good with supplementation (esp. compounded multi’s) Bottom Line: go to the Day Protocol for the newest info on how we address the supplementation thing!

Again, like everything on this website this is a very rough draft.

 

1.)      Over supplementation – There is a lot of information on the literal concept of over supplementation, which of course we need to be aware of. However, my AMAZING Naturopath has made me aware of a more applicable form of over supplementation and I will try to explain it here until he provides me with his version:  These kids need tons of supplements, as is well documented by the literature. When tested, vitamin levels are not only extremely low, but require “mega” dosing, way beyond a typical persons, to bring the levels up. We also know many of these kids respond favorably to many, many different single supplement additions (i.e. Cod liver oil, zinc, DMG, etc.). Percentage of kids responding favorably varies from (20%=80% - DAN 2003) for each individual substance. There are tests to indicate which items your child might need, but most are trial and error. Then there are the (now available for the first time ever) compounded specifically for our kids vitamin combos brainchildnutritionals & learningfactors & learnersedge.  This leaves the parent with a variety of options and huge mental debate: wanting to maximize their potential by giving them enough of everything they need, but not over doing it. Now I’ll go back to my Naturopath’s position (hopefully I’ll get it right) Everything you put in your mouth, on your body or breath in that is not a substance you successfully recognize as good for you and assimilate/utilize you have to “detox”. Everything over and above puts additional strain on all the emunctories (liver, kidney, skin, etc.) or the detox systems…WHICH IS HOW OUR CHILDREN ARE WEAK TO BEGIN WITH…(Now my version of what I think is going on: WHY THEIR SYSTEM IS IN A STATE OF CHAOS IN THE FIRST PLACE). Now as sideline note that I think will help put it in perspective: Think of gas to your car as food to your body, only in the body the food is broken down to it’s final fuel molecule: ATP. Every single pathway, whether it is detox or other,  is fueled by ATP energy!  Now think about this: Your child’s body is running on this fuel (ATP) which is required to break the fuel down into itself to start with. Don’t think you can just feed them more because it doesn’t work that way…anything over the bodies ability to break down food stuff at any one sitting does damage too. This ATP  is used up in every immune response: Oh my gosh, it’s a peanut, I better send in the calvary(huge ATP expenditure), Oops there are the ubiquitous environmental toxins I must detox using ATP, but wait the enzymes/hormones/precursors first have to be created from foodstuffs utilizing ATP,  compromised system results in lack of sleep, hyperactive bursts, stimming…ALL UTILIZING STORES OF ATP! GUESS WHAT FOLKS…THEY AIN’T GOT NONE LEFT.!.!.! Therefore, there is a very delicate balance we must arrive at and maintain for them to go from chaos to order as they heal.  This is where Applied Kinesiology can help tremendously… (DAY Protocol).This is simply a plan to reduce ATP energy spent on detoxing supplements which are over and above the person’s ability to utilize effectively.
