Encouragement

Answer to email wanting words of encouragement off Chelatingkids2:

Dear Shelly:

If you keep your sights on the goal: have the healthiest child you can...it will most likely translate into recovery for your child. If you focus on recovery for  your child...your journey will be full of disappointment...because this path is rarely as speedy as we would hope for and absolutely full of decisions we question (mistakes).

I believe everything we need to have our children reach their full potential, despite having been assaulted to the point of autism, is available to us. It is the fit of the pieces that is different for every child & what we as parents will arrive at over time.

A quick note about treating for pathogens. Whenever you treat for them, symptoms come from die off &/or mobilization of metals vs the anti-microbial you used as a general rule. Having said that however, anything we use on a regular basis with our children can create and allergic response which is counter-productive, but not usually to the point of pain. You should keep in mind that this sort of reaction probably means that parasites &/or bacteria should be a target at some point in the near future (which they usually are), but probably introducing anti-microbials separately.

Back to encouragement....if you set your sights on educating yourself to the point where you know in your heart that the path you choose is making your child healthier...& I think there is enough evidence to believe that your child is heavy metal toxic & has a high pathogen burden...then you won't doubt yourself as much as doubt that particular step you took (like too much too quickly).

I started from a biochemical model a year before your son was born (January 2002). I have been on a journey that to the mainstream doctor's uneducated view warrants concern vs admiration. You can't stay between two worlds. If you had the time to educate yourself thoroughly (which none of us do) you would not only treat your son for parasites & mercury...you would treat your whole family! We are all operating sub-optimally because of our toxin & microbe burden, just not to the point of diagnosis.

If you want to turbo-charge your education I would suggest two things: 1.) you watch the video of the interview I did with Dr Garry Gordon (who in my estimation knows more about the plight of our children than just about anyone but sells supplements with such zeal & has such a difficult time staying on point that he lacks the reverence I feel he deserves in the Autism community. He was the co-founder of ACAM …which by the way is where I found all my favorite docs before DAN was considering a position on chelation) & 2.) Come to the conference Dr Klinghardt is giving in Arizona Jan 21 & 22, 2006 for parents of children with Autism.

It is only $50…His conferences are normally $450 & attended by some of the most progressive docs from around the globe. If you can’t make it I hope to have a transcript on this site by early March.

These children heal & recover! I actually see kids who improve substantially more often than I see children who are as plodding as my son.

In fact there is only one child I know of that has been as slow to recover as my son & she has Rhett’s syndrome.

What I do see are common characteristics about the parents approach among the children who are recovering.
