Rectal Administration of Nutrients

This seems to be a topic for debate in the world of Autism (actually, this is a mis-representation…they don’t seem much interested in it). In fact at the mini-DAN (September 2003) I asked about rectal administration of chelators to try to avoid the encouragement of yeast growth and I was shot down “too messy & inconvenient” as far as I remember.

Here’s my advice: the “King of Chelation” as I will now call him – Dr. Stephen Edelson does not touch these kids with oral EDTA, DMPS or DMSA. He is not big on telling you why, or answering your question why, but my guess is that after being one of the most aggressive chelators of children (probably the most) {in addition to probably being the most aggressive on most levels}, through trial & error he probably discovered the kids did better with the heavy duty chelators avoiding the gut. Our son’s protocol (his chelation challenge mercury level exceeded 250) was: IV-DMPS 2/Week, Rectal DMSA 3/Week (100am/100@4pm), Oral ALA-500mg 3/DAY!!! And many other supplements. My kid after a year of this (of course he was on the diet the whole time) never had a yeast problem. For many kids at the Edelson Center (we were there 8 months) they were old enough to ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to take ANYTHING!!! One of the solutions was to have the parent try putting all the supplements in a small bit of liquid (except the ones specifically for gut healing: probiotics, aloe, more), mix it up, suck it up in a large syringe (with no needle), figure out what it took to empty it into the child’s rectum (preferably after a bowel movement) and try to have it stay in at least 45 minutes. The absorption directly through the wall into the blood is well documented.

My AMAZING Naturopath completely sees the wisdom of avoiding the gut whenever possible and avoiding over-supplementation (anything the body doesn’t effectively utilize must be processed using the same processes needed for detoxing all other unnecessary/toxic substances). He introduced me and is putting my son on the Brain Protocols. And one of his colleagues introduced me to the Alpha-Stim, which I think helps the brain chelate & stabilize.

The SpecialFoods lady uses NO supplements to avoid the allergenicity/immune response.

The doctor who did the study on the chelator Alithiamine (Allicin & Thiamine) got the positive results using rectal administration not transdermal (which is the DAN standard now).

Resource for EDTA suppositories.- which is the only patented form of chelation.
